These lamps appeared in the 70s I think maybe earlier and tubes were not easy to get so these appearred on flea markets etc.

iirc these are used in slot machines and are still produced.
dont have any to measure but the last ones i ordered were nec japan and had the hg and crossed out trash can so late production.

We have millions of these here as they are the most common tubes used in EXIT lights here. Plus I have a Thorn Arrowslim that takes one of these too.

Traffic signals & street lighting engineer. Please bring SOX/LPS back Downunder!!

These were used years ago as a "header"(marquis)lamp in Japanese video games. The fixture was preheat and used a starter that had a screw base. We changed them out with stranded 14 watt fixtures as these were very hard to get at the time.
