Osram Sylvania no longer exists. Now it's Ledvance.

Effective July 1st of this year, the lamps division of Osram was spun off and became Ledvance, so Osram can focus on connected lighting systems. This is the first package that says "Ledvance" on the back, rather than Osram Sylvania (1993-2016).

Better start collecting Osram Sylvania lamps!
Too bad I have almost none of them.
At least this makes my GTE Sylvania lamps even rarer.

Where are daylight fluorescents when you need them?

@wattMaster: It doesn't make your GTE lamps rarer. There's still the same number of GTE lamps.

@Alex: Yeah, I'm surprised they picked a name so similar to another major lighting brand. If they start putting out "Ledvance" branded ballasts, you can bet Philips Advance will have a problem with it.

Edit: I went back and read the article Patrick linked and apparently they're going to keep using the Sylvania and Osram names.

I like my lamps thick, my ballasts heavy, and my fixtures tough.

Should this affect also our Osram lamps? (I've a lot of lamps of Osram including two HWL 160W, two Dulux EL 23W/840, a Duluxstar 8W/827, and an HQI-TS 70W/WDL Excellence. Also Osram HPS lamps, are very popular here in Qiryat Ata)

I"m don't speak english well, and rely on online translating to write in this site.
Please forgive me if my choice of my words looks like offensive, while that isn't my intention.

I'm antiLED and hope that the LED lighting will be phased out in favor of old lighting technologies soon.

Whoa. Did you see that it is addressed at the Versailles, KY fluorescent lamp plant? Not the St Mary's PA incandescent plant? I sense it is now slated to close, along with the Winchester, KY PAR plant. They still haven't announced it, but I can see it happening.

If you want to know why I hate LEDs, well there is your answer. They are taking away American jobs. All of the LED bulbs in use in my house were found either in recycling bins, at Restore, or I purchased them online just out of curiosity to see how well they worked. If they ever introduce LED bulbs made in the USA then I will probably start buying more. So far, the LED filament lamps are looking like a good start since old incandescent equipment can be reused for making them. I hope they come out with 150w= and 200w= LED filaments soon.

LEDs = Downgrade 85% of the applications.

Losses of American jobs has absolutely nothing to do with LEDs. It's the corporations being greedy and going for the cheapest labor to make stuff. $10 an hour to pay an American worker to make stuff here or $4 an hour to pay a Chinese worker to make the very same stuff in China. Here lies your problem of American jobs going offshore.

Doesn't even have to be LEDs or even lighting related.

Why I like LEDs on top of other lighting tech?
LEDs = Upgrade 95% of the applications. (That is if you avoid eBay's LEDs).

LED brainwash? No, people uses them cuz they work well for them.
