How to disinfect a microwave

How to disinfect a microwave

Remember that unusual germicidal CCFL circline I found a while ago? Well, I didn't have the proper gear to light it up (I put it on a PSMH ballast and it made a cool lightning effect however) so I decided to stick it in a microwave oven for a few seconds to see what it did. It lit up VERY bright (easily overpowered the incandescent lamp in the microwave, it was about as bright as a 75w incandescent) After I opened it back up, the lamp was pretty hot and I was greeted with the smell of ozone. I would have left it in there longer, but because the electrodes were glowing red-hot near the plastic I decided against it. If I had another tube like this but without the plastic I would probably leave it in for about 15 seconds to see what happens.

It would be cool if microwaves made this a real feature.

Where are bucket lights when you need them?

I'd try an equivalent wattage in preheat ballast, but if the voltage is too low for the lamp you could use a 40w ballast and two 20w chokes wired in series on the output. Or use an instant start ballast.

You made your own plasma light!Just like what Fusion Systems does!Careful--though you could blow your circuline bulb! This happened to me while experimenting with flourescent bulbs in a microwave.also gas voltage regulator tubes-0A2,0B2,and so on.

I don't this in the past with a Luxten F8T5/D: http://www.lighting-gallery.net/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-87919

I"m don't speak english well, and rely on online translating to write in this site.
Please forgive me if my choice of my words looks like offensive, while that isn't my intention.

I hope that LED won't replace all forms of other lighting.
