Siemens MRL135 135w SOX/LPS Streetlight

These are the two Siemens MRL135 streetlights I received from Claire on Monday after a long awaited period of nearly three months via sea from the UK.

They are in pristine condition, never been used and arrived in their original boxes including installation instructions. They are an updated version of the GEC Z9554M. I'm unsure of the manufacture date however the instructions were last revised in 1991 so I would say they are 1990's vintage.

I remember the GEC versions of these when growing up as a kid in New Zealand. They no doubt contributed to my love and fascination with all things Low Pressure Sodium. To say I'm pleased to have these two lanterns in the collection is a gross understatement.

A pic of the MRL135 with a 135w Philips SOX PLUS lamp that Claire supplied at switch-on. In my opinion there are few colours in the world nicer than a newly struck-up SOX lamp.

Lamp compartment of the Cora 3

Here is the lamp section of the Cora 3. the canopy is made of GRP while the rest of the fixture is Aluminium. These fixtures came with a acrylic shallow bowl but it was also available with a plane hardened glass. As the ballast for the MV lamp is a dual tab type for either MV 125 or 250W a E40 socket is mounted but here for the 125W bulb a socket reduction is fitted for MV 125W with E27.
