Yeah I've noticed it again today, The way that I could think of to prevent this is if it is possible to write a script that imposes a upload limit and/or displays a warning message if you upload too much during a certain time period (say 1 day). I also recommend adding uploading recommendations to the site rules page and the upload page as both a reminder and as education to new users since some users not familiar with similar coppermine based internet galleries will not notice that excessive uploading will displace the previous uploads from the front page.

I also think everyone should update a decent amount of picture at once, by courtesy to other members.

I have to admit, I flooded the site with pictures (sometimes as many as 20 at a time) when I first joined, but as yall know, I had a LOT of pictures to upload.  I have since limited it to ten, but usually less than that.  After figuring out how the site works, I have limited the number of uploads I have posted at once.  Yall please forgive me for the initial BOMB of pics I posted.  I did not realize the effect of it!

I kinda noticed that the 'lastest upload' section can be easily flooded, so I up no more than 3 pic's in a day (and usually its just 1 or 2)

Colored Flourescent's rule, there's nothing like a good F40T12/Red or  F40T12/Green or  F40T12/Blue lamp. Same goes for any Aquarium and/or Gro-Lux lamps.

Its happens again. "Cyanmaster" floods this gallery now (31.5.2010) with tens if not hundreds of pictures, wiping all the pictures of the formers users. he currently updated or created many albums with/of many pictures simultaneously.
I think "Cyanmaster" should be banned from this site as every time he becomes active, he floods the gallery with tens or even hundreds of pictures. This can cause also a loss of space for the servers of this site.
I have never saw in this site a member that behaves like him from the moment i started to surf in this site which was in 2005 or 2006 i think.

Well gentlemen,
these are much pictures, but there are worse things in life. Besides of that all pictures are under 100kb and not the same.
Tell that the admins or yourself the member if you have really a problem with that.

I don't know which limit of new uploads exist now, but five per day is in my eyes too less. BTW to this theme would also good fit the old proposal of polls.

Greetings

Guilty...  Embarrassed
Not in bad faith though. I didn't realize it was an issue until now.
I'll keep it in mind.

I would suggest reporting this type of activity to an administrator before posting your opinions regarding other members' behavior out in the open.  There are members (who have replied to this topic, as a matter of fact) who have been disciplined for their behavior as well...yet it was not publicized.  Please refrain from complaining about specific members (mentioning names, etc.) in a forum post that can be read by everyone.  It creates negative energy on the site, which is not tolerated.  Thank you.

Perhaps an idea to change the layout of the gallery. For example delete the window with "albums" and make the window "last uploaded pictures" longer.
I hardly use the window "albums" with "lanterns, lamps, gear etc..
I use "last comments and last uploads"the most.

Or (if it is possible) show only limited number of pictures in the "last uploaded pictures" from one upload batch. So if someone upload more at once, only few (let say 3) of his pictures would be displayed here on this "prominent" place, others would be accessible only via "browsing" trough the album...

I also like the idea of removing the albums section and making last uploads (and maybe last comments) longer.

Deleting the albums sections will make the things worse. It is best to retain the "last updated albums" as is and only increase the "last uploaded pictures". The public albums is important as it is make easy to find the last pictures of a specific subject.

On the Gallery page, four rows will now be displayed under Last Additions.  That should help a little.
