deep red sounds like a nice colour for a lantern. Brick red is good for a sox lantern. Blue is my favourite colour and so I may plan on painting a lantern of mines in  a blue to see what its like

Some of the lights downtown here are painted a rusty red sort of colour... Either that... or they're actually rusted but I don't think that is the case since they're cobraheads and are likely aluminum... I'm not good with identifying cobraheads so I couldn't tell the model here is one though: https://www.google.com/maps/@42.3184155,-85.1832395,3a,15y,95.48h,116.58t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1saZ0Dc6JIiQXT65azZS0bXQ!2e0!7i13312!8i6656

I actually think it would be cool to copper plate a fixture and let it get the green patina over time, and turn the color of a penny...

I once painted a 1xF40 fixture black, then put a F40T12/BLB in it :)

Wherever possible I like to see something restored to how it was when it came out of the factory. Modifications that could have been done at the time are acceptable to me, or upgrades that would have been done.

Thinking about it, I also painted a 2xF96T12 slimline fixture silver.
Needed paint anyway,  plus the silver looks better than white since the beast is inside the house.
