Forgot the brand of the fixture used but it was a LPS safelight. ..seemed really dim for a LPS..there were 3 of them

I have a Thomas Duplex safelight in my darkroom. I don't know if the filters are shot or what, but it isn't safe anymore. Frankly I don't know if it was ever safe! I've since stopped using it and actually prefer smaller safelights placed in the right places. Still, its a nice light for a large darkroom.

Yes it is. It bounces light off the ceiling.

have you tried using an red filter on the lamp^

No I haven't. I'm sure through better filtering I could make it safe. However, I prefer to have a small safelight tied into my enlarger timer so that it turns off when I'm focusing and comes back on when done printing.
