Get your biggest/highest-wattage/brightest lights ready...
Saturday, March 29 at 8:30pm - 9:30pm ... is "Human Achievement Hour"
Put those lights outside and turn them on! LOL :)

(this is also known by some as 'Earth Hour' - those who prefer to turn their lights off for that hour)

:-D

Well, I see the light pollution as quite real problem, I prefer to not overuse the lights,
but the events like "Earth hour" or similar I see just as a "See, I did my work, so don't bother me" type of excuse (same as "See, we have installed energy saving lights" or "see, we use the green energy" or similar).
So I do support the idea of pointing that stupidity out...

I guess I'm among the minority here, as I rather enjoy participating in Earth Hour's intended purpose. I'm not particularly frugal with electricity otherwise, so I figure I may as well do my part for just an hour.

Earth hour has just about ended here in Atlantic Time. I turned off all the lights except my F15T8 desk lamp, and the only other constantly-running device was my laptop. In total I reduced my power consumption from about 250 watts (not counting the heater and fridge, which haven't run in the last hour) to about 35 watts.  ;D

Human achievement hour is now over here..those extra 4 lights I had 'on' are now off (actually they were off, and back inside by 9:30)

I'm with TheMaritimeMan on this one, I normally turn off all lighting save a few night lights for Earth Hour. However, this year I was getting ready for bed as I was down with the flu...

Only managed 12,700W of light this year as was raining very heavily and two generators did not want to start.

Wow thats still an impressive total!
Did you get any pictures or video? or was did the rain prevent it?

I remember looking on YouTube a couple weeks ago, but at that point noone had anything for this year (usually there's atleast one guy who posts a vid of a pretty impressive 'display')

I have videos of all of my earth hour/human achievement hour lightshows on Youtube (same handle as here).  My 'only 12,700W' comment is because I did 17,700W last year and 14,900W in 2012.
