How many fixtures do you have? « on: September 18, 2007, 07:10:09 PM » Author: TudorWhiz
Read instructions first before answering!

Last November 23rd this question was asked # of lanterns question

The question will be a bit different....I want you to answer questions as follows:

1. How many streetlights do you have in your collection?

Example answer: 1. Three (this is just an example)

2. Please name all your fixtures (or MAXIMUM of 25 if you have more than 25) and link the pictures if you can so we can see them (your own picture or the webpage, doesn't matter) and for each light put in source and wattage of the fixture. Also date them if you know.

Example answer: 2.
McGraw Unidor 175 -  100/150 watt HPS dated to August 1976.
Westinghouse OV-14B - 175 watt MV dated to 1957
Westinghouse OV-25 TuDor - 400 watt MV dated to 1982

Below questions does not include streetlights, but includes other fixtures!

3. How many fluorescent fixtures do you have? (you can add extra info if you want but not needed)

4. How many incandescent fixtures do you have? (you can add extra info if you want but not needed)

5. What other kinds of fixtures do you have besides the above you have replied?

(be sure to number the answers!)

Enjoy!

Here's my batch, 16 of 'em.

American Electric 125 400 watt HPS (c.1994)
ITT 13 175 watt MV (c. 1976)
Crouse-Hinds OVM 250 watt HPS (1986)
Crouse-Hinds OVZ 150 watt HPS (c.1991)
Crouse-Hinds OV-15 175 watt MV (c. 1983)
Westinghouse OV-15 175 watt MV/MH (c. 1970)
Westinghouse 1st Generation OV-25 400 watt MV (c. 1960)
Westinghouse 2nd Generation OV-25 400 watt MV/MH (c. 1967)
Westinghouse 3rd Generation OV-25 250 watt HPS (1975)
Westinghouse 4th Generation OV-25 400 watt MV (1980)
GE M250R2 100 watt HPS (1993)
GE M250A2 (M150) Powr/Door 150 watt HPS (1984)
GE M400A1 Powr/Door FCO 250 watt HPS (c. 1975)
GE M400R2 250 watt HPS (1993)
GE M400 250 watt HPS (1981)
GE M1000 1000 watt MV (1971)

Now, all of my luminaires have been reconditioned and refinished.  Five of the lumiaires still have their original ballast components.  The most heavily modified luminaires I have are my Westinghouse OV-25 flatbottom and my ITT model 13.  On the Westie, I fabricated a new ballast mount and added a P-cell receptacle before refurbishing it.  On the ITT, I had to alter the p-cell hole to accomodate a new receptacle.

My collection:

20 individual streetlight models with a few dupes, and a few are on the way out to other collectors:

1. GE Form 109 400w merc (currently have two) (early-mid 50s)
2. GE Form 400 400w merc (currently have two)(c 55-61)
3. Westinghouse OV-35 700-1000w merc (c '60)
4. Wheeler Boston 1000L incandescent (late 50s)
5. PEMCO 400w merc clamshell (c '60)
6. GE M-400 400w merc ('62, CWI ballast)
7. GE M-250R 175w merc ('63, reactor ballast)
8. Westinghouse OV-14B 175w merc ('57, early CWI ballast)
9. Westinghouse OV-25 flat bottom 400w merc (c early 60s, CWI ballast)
10. Joslyn 175w merc spaceship (c 60s-70s, reactor ballast)

15. Westinghouse OV-25 TuDor 400w merc ('75, CWI ballast mounted in fixture chassis, not on door)
16. Line Materials Unistyle 400w merc (currently have two) ('66, CWI ballast)
17. Westinghouse OV-15 TuDor FCO 50w HPS ('81, reactor ballast on door)
18. Sylvania Canada B3300 something, 250w HPS (will be converted to MV/MH) ('87, CWI ballast I think).
19. GE gumball globe with ITT NEMA head assembled by me, 175w merc with HX ballast
20. Westinghouse OV-12, early 60s (no ballast currently, it was burnt out and removed before I got it)

Fluorescent fixtures: At least 10 vintage desk lamps, one 60s-70s 25w 33 inch 2 lamp unit, one 4x20w fluorescent half piper from '43, and three early 40s preheat industrial units, all 2x40w. Also a few newer RS and preheat strips.

Incandescent fixtures: Only my personal collectible lights would count, so I have one Alzak parking lot floodlight that uses a 300w mogul incandescent, one RLM green and white enamel fixture that takes a medium base incandescent, one RLM green and white enamel directional fixture, a chandelier I made back in high school, another chandelier I made in college, a hanging metal RLM-like silver fixture I also made in high school, and an old '20s vintage asbestos cloth cord with bare paper lined brass socket (it came with a period correct early '20s GE Mazda 100w!). Total is at least 7.

Misc: I have two HID floodlights, one is a Hubbell 250w MH, the other is a Widelite 250w MV. The Hubbell floodlight makes me think of a good friend of mine who got it for me, he has since passed away.

Why I like LEDs on top of other lighting tech?
LEDs = Upgrade 95% of the applications. (That is if you avoid eBay's LEDs).

LED brainwash? No, people uses them cuz they work well for them.

Fluorecent fixtures of my Own:
I have 12 known fluorescent fixtures which includes my desk lamps, circline and the Moe light fixture...

Incandescent fixtures of my Own:

I really can't count my incandescent fixtures, but I'll mention my special ones which is my old 1930s-1940s GE green RLM fixture made of porcelain with white reflector, also I have an old old retrofitted to incandescent gas lantern, it was probably retrofitted in the 1940s because there was a Mazda lamp inside. I have several lava lamps also!

Misc fixtures of my Own:
I want to mention my nice Exit Sign and my nice Crouse Hinds traffic light from 1985, I even changed the red light to LED!!!! It has 80 LEDs on the plate! It equals to 9 watts!

That's all for now!
