Luxrite vs Pulsrite vs EYE « on: June 30, 2017, 12:06:40 PM » Author: HomeBrewLamps
So, i dont mean to be the one to post so many topics in a short period of time, but since i can really integrate this question into an existing topic, i created a new one, anyway.

So I'm on amazon looking at 70W medium base HPS bulbs for my desklamp i built,

I've come across 3 lamps i may be interested in:

https://www.amazon.com/Plusrite-2002-Pressure-Sodium-Medium/dp/B001HXKBE4/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1498837349&sr=8-2&keywords=70W+HPS+bulb

https://www.amazon.com/Luxrite-lr20690-ED17-Pressure-Sodium/dp/B0013ARDRY/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8

https://www.amazon.com/EYE-Lighting-66202-Pressure-Universal/dp/B00HYURTBC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1497543836&sr=8-1&keywords=eye+70W+HPS

now if pulsrite is a good company I will be ordering two bulbs from them since they're cheap, maybe the same for luxrite (if that company is any good) the EYE bulbs i know are good, but currently looking for cheaper options that would last as long or almost as long.

I would probably get one of each and see which bulb is the best.

Do not buy Plusrite if you want long life, it seems for every one lamp that lasts over 10,000 hours, three will only last under 5000 hours. Now I cant say this is true for their lower wattage HPS as ive only used their 250w and 400w HPS lamps in large quantities, but assuming quality is the same across all sizes, ide invest the few extra bucks in EYE Iwasaki. And dont even get me started on Plusrite MH lamps... :P

Luxrite is most likely rebadged Plusrite, or possibly an even cheaper made chinese export like Caster/PolarLites

Don't bother with one of each. The EYE will definitely be the best.

Luxrite and Plusrite don't actually make anything.  They are just trading companies who buy from a variety of cheap Chinese sources and have their name stamped on the products.  For sure they are not the worst, but the quality is highly depending on who happens to be the cheapest supplier they are sourcing from at a given moment.  If you are interested in quality, buy something where the brand name on the product is the same as the manufacturer - in this case you made the best choice to go with EYE!
