DO these d what they actually claim to do?

I don't know if they do what they say, but I know the large lamps will destroy wood furniture if they are placed on it for any length of time. But they do look cool..

It is probably 25w. I found a similar bulb on amazon and eBay, I imagine as specialized as this is only one manufacturer is making it. I asked a question and someone answered it that it was 25w.
