I've found coated HPS (or metal halide for that matter) lamps to be rarely used, so I was surprised when I saw these installed in footpath lighting in Renton Washington. It might have been done to reduce glare or maybe somebody just ordered these by mistake.

There’s one street light near me with a diffused HPS, and it’s a 200W GE M-250R2 FCO.

I like all kinds of lighting and electrical, especially HIDs and street lights!

With clear lens fixtures like this and FCO it make more sense so the diffused coating reduce glare.

Collect vintage incandescent and fluorescent fixtures. Also like HID lighting and streetlights.
