Ecosmart filament LED

Ecosmart filament LED

While I generally share the anti-LED sentiment that many here have, there are some lamps and fixtures that give me hope. This is one. The overall design, the color, light distribution and brightness are the best replacement for an incandescent I've seen and this lamp dims pretty well, too. I'd say I like it BETTER than an incandescent. I even like the etch, which is well-printed and gives all the details including lumens and current. The one thing that remains to be seen is its longevity.

Could be a good product, once the little foibles are ironed out.

Made by K-Lite in Bei Lun, south of Shanghai across the bay... Plant Co-Ords., 29.889811 121.783871 ( http://itouchmap.com/latlong.html )

Manufactured articles should be made to be used, not made to be sold!

These are the best LED on the market today, I think the, (not all that old), SMT diodes have had their day now, the future in LED tech will be in this form.

Current: UK 230V, 50Hz
Power provider: e.on energy
Street lighting in our town: Philips UniStreet LED

Recently I bought the Osram Version:

The problems with the Philips LED filament lamps are discussed already in the forums (for example Amazon).
It is embarrassing, that one of the biggest light source manufacturer is not able to produce high quality filament bulbs. My parents use Flair (Hornbach brand) filament bulbs in the garden fixtures since they came out and some of them are now beyond the 8000h mark and not one single bulb failed so far or lost lumens..

The Ecosmart and the above Osram lamp are not made by K-lite who makes lamps for Philips. Rather, they are made by Lighting Science. Pretty good stuff. LED filaments are becoming more available in the states.

May all the great lighting technologies have their place in history.
