Osram T12 halophasphate warm white tubes in wrap around fixture

Osram T12 halophasphate warm white tubes in wrap around fixture

Click to view full size image

This is my wrap around kitchen fixture in which I use my new (old) T12 Osram tubes. The fixture is quite new an normally meant to use T8 tubes but also the T12 tubes fit in it. They are running in series - no problems at startup as the ballast can also handle T12 tubes.

In my bathroom fixture I've also inserted such a tube and it starts without a starter. Strange...

Instant starting on the mains does happen with T12. It is bad for the lamp - you'll see banding soon and it'll age fast. Try S2/ST151 starter or electronic starter to force it to start "correctly"

I like the fitting - the low profile fluorescents look great. T12's look like a nice fit too. Not a lot of instant start fixtures her in Australia - pre heat seems to be favoured in most cases. We are seeing much more electronic/cfl/pl configurations now.

Blake: Prismatic meaned that he have a T12 lamp, that starts directly from the 230V mains, without a starter. Not the single pin IS lamps.

I"m don't speak English well, and rely on online translating to write in this site.
Please forgive me if my choice of my words looks like offensive, while that isn't my intention.

I only working with the European date format (dd.mm.yyyy).

I lives in Israel, which is a 230-240V, 50hz country.
