Helium-Neon laser

Now superseded by laser diodes this old Helium-neon laser is still interesting to watch. Early versions often stopped lasing as the Helium would escape through the tube seals leaving the nice red neon discharge but no laser output.

Remember these laser tubes from science classes.Edmund Science Co used to sell these tubes and complete lasers that used them.Like these better than the diodes-but of course the diodes are cheaper and more practical. Can't use that laser tube on a keychain laser!
