NOS 18W SOX lamps

A nice set of NOS SOX lamps came in.

The one on the left is especially cool, it came wrapped in a cardboard which was then wrapped in paper. The lamp has an unusual stem constuction, it seems to be spring loaded and the plate is a metal disc. It looks rock solid and very well made. Date code is D9 - April 1989 in Turnhout, Belgium.

The one in the middle has a date code of 5J - September 1995 in Turnhout, Belgium.

And the one on the right is made by General Electric. On the lamp itself it says "GE 75 UK". I wonder how old it is.

So far I have tested the GE lamp at first because I was worried since the arc tube is not 100% perfectly fixed inside at the top and rattles slightly but it works perfectly fine nevertheless.

The internal support structure of the earlier Philips SOX lamps is quite a thing of beauty whereas the later versions with just mica disks holding everything together don't seem to be as well made and it appears cost cutting is to blame unfortunately.

Beautiful bulbs!! These are my alltime favorite bulbs with alltime favorite wattage . Thanks so much for the picture. One question, my all time favorite lighting fixture is an 18 watt Phillips Mini-SOX wall pack from the 1980's to early 90's. I never owned and alway wanted one! Would the OEM stock bulb that they came with be the exact 18watt Phillips bulb in the center of your picture?
