Haha, these are IDENTICAL to what's replacing the 50w MV's and 2x20w Strads in Brisbane (32w Sylvania CF-TE col 840 amalgam), except I don't know where the current lamps are made and instead the Long Life version is being used with blue bases instead of white, see here .

The lamps themselves are probably ok but the ballasts are having problems, especially when run with 42w lamps, of which the roll-out of that combination has temporarily been halted (surprise surprise).

I saw some of these start up near my street for the first time on the weekend, and they start off just glowing at the cathodes before gradually warming up. My street was changed over last month with these. I'll take some pics soon.

BTW I have an NOS Sylvania 18w CF-DE that was made in the UK, plus the mini-lynx range of CFL's we had in the mid to late 1990's were also made in the UK.
