This must be a pretty common style currently because I've seen them pop up all.over the place in new or remodeled buildings. My work has these but the ballasts in the must be crap as we've had almost half of them fail in the 4 years since they were installed. Lamps always outlast the ballasts. But electronic ballasts are better

These are pretty common to see around here. To me they're fairly nice looking fixtures.

Got a couple of them this spring from a relative (they were removed from a place that had some remodeling done).. The lamp-cover things were missing (kept as spares I believe).
I gutted the fixtures, saving ballasts & lampholders, but getting rid of all the rest of the internal metal parts. The empty frames are currently sitting out on the side of the house..

Colored Fluorescent's such as F40T12 Red or  Green or Blue are awesome...
