One thing I can guarantee, the igniter will fail quickly. I installed one of these for a relative...later bypassed the ballast and screwed in a 42W CFL. They liked the results and it's easy to maintain.

Your mission - should you choose to except it - is to save unique and rare HID lighting before it's all scrapped.

Im running an incandecent lamp in here.

Why can't we just use led retrofit instead of replacing the whole fixture.

Yeah these are junk. The Home Depot site has hundreds of negative reviews and a virtually every one was attributed to a shoddy ignitor. The 70 and 100w PSMH ballasts can both run 100W MV lamps so as long as the ballast doesn't quit that route is still viable. These ballasts don't really run the lamps to spec though. The tolerances are awful. +/- 25 watts some times!

Please check out my newly-updated website! McCann Lighting Company is where my street light collection is displayed in detail.

I have one of these i got a while ago, i modded it to 175w MV as the "100w" MH ballast was doing very poorly. The ballast in my light was about the same size as a 70w MH ballast, maybe slightly smaller.

Old lighting is, and will always be, the best lighting.

Yep...you get what you pay for! Better deals for high quality NOS lighting on eBay.

Environmentally friendly though! Made with recycled beer cans and plastic milk cartons...
