One faithful morning, I tried to turn on this night light and it would not come on. Lo and behold, the filament is literally shredded from using the bulb so often. Happily, I replaced with another Sylvaning Double Life bulb for another consumption.

You only live twice, Mr. Bulb.

I have probably "fixed" about a dozen of these when the filament was still hanging on at one end; it's usually pretty easy to turn the bulb until the filament touches the other lead wire. Turn it on, and it's got a second life....and is sometimes brighter (shorter filament). But it usually doesn't last long this way.

I'm lampin...

Like the old American made version S-6 they appeared here in 220v versions and were used to light up lift call buttons on the old lifts (elevators) Modern plug in nightlights here use this modern shape bulb.Have just put some up.

Interested in the history of electric lighting and incandescent in particular and neon glow lamps.
