"Ouch that burns!," should never be the reaction you have when you turn a ballast off. When this happened I immediately brought out my infrared thermometer and checked the temperature.

Yes, note the F next to the number If the measurements were celsius there would be a real problem.

You can see this ballast box is far separate from the lamps and still gets hot!
