Wotan Lamp

Wotan Lamp

Click to view full size image

In UK and some Commonwealth countries Osram was the brand name of GEC. The original company was Osram a company set up in Germany by Halske and Siemens and took the name from Osmium and Wolfram the metals used for filaments. However wars intervened and the UK took over the Osram Co here at Hammersmith which was the old Robertson carbon lamp Co. Before the take over Osram used a very old name Wotan who were making lamps here as well in their own right. The name Neron was also found on lamps made by Osram. Wotan was from Wolfram and Tantalum. Hope this makes sense?
