Two brand-new mahooosive 180w low pressure sodium discharge lamps.
Always wanted to get one of these and when Johnny M pointed these out I had to get some!
Was worth the 76 mile round trip to collect! Didn't want to risk them in the post!

I took the risk with mine and luckily it arrived in one piece. Have you fired yours up yet. I fired mine up straight away when it arrived on my gec z1633p leak transformer gear from the gec z9554 street light.

Main interests mercury vapour, sox and street lighting

Very nice, so the 180w has a longer rounded end like the early model Philips SOX as opposed to the pointed end like the 135w and below? I've only ever seen one 180w SOX streetlight here, an MA60 in the security entrance to the old Ford factory that I really want to get.

Traffic signals & street lighting engineer. Please bring SOX/LPS back Downunder!!

Yes, about 4 feet long! When this is warming up, one can hear all sorts of noises going on as the glass expands. All SOX lamps do that but these ones especially!

I hadn't noticed the noises! Will have to listen next time I catch the one on the landing switching on .. but as it's an 18W lamp I doubt I'll be able to hear it
