Custom-Built F13T5 Preheat Strip Light

Custom-Built F13T5 Preheat Strip Light

I currently have no use for this light, but I've been wanting a fixture for my F13T5 lamps for awhile now and couldn't resist making a Frankenfixture out of this crappy Lithonia strip light. The good thing about these modern cheap fixtures is that all you need to chop one down to a shorter length is a pair of tin snips and pliers to straighten the channel after you chop it!

This fixture was originally a single lamp F20T12 unit with an electronic KeyStone ballast, which I will use to run an F17T8. The fixture came with a Philips Alto K&B lamp with light hours. Works well but it's pretty pink.

Anyway, bought the fixture for $3 at the ReStore today along with four 11W 75W= MaxLED light bulbs in the box ($2 each) and a pair of new Philips F32T8/DX Altos from 2013.

Awesome job! on the fixture looks great. How much were the F32T8 lamps? I recently bought a pair of GE (Which I think are the best modern lamps out there) F32T8 6500K 80CRI at Wal*Mart for $7.88 + tax

the F32T8s were $2 for the pair. My favorite lamps are the GE 5000K lamps. Nice stark white color. Not yellow and not blue.

Nice fixture mod! I should do the same with the F13T5 ballast I got from our trade.

Yeah! I was going to make this all preheat (I originally had three preheat ballasts and one internal starter preheat one; I gave one to you and forget who I gave the other one to. Maybe I still have it somewhere lol) but I ended up using the only two I found, one preheat and the integral starter one.
