Ballast datecode?

Power provider: Southern California Edison (SCE)

-Date decoder of some US lamps 1960-present.
-Switch and receptacle collector.
-I'll save any vintage lamp! Smiley

I don't know... I honestly don't feel like pulling the ballast out at the moment but someday I will.

It is but unfortunately during cleaning some of the cleaning agent got on the label and ruined it....

Is there any possibility someone could scan a label for a thermomatic X ballast into a computer?

How did you deal with the chemicals?

Don't be fooLED, T8 IS the worst thing to do to a magnetic T12 fixture.

I dragged home a different reflector from the same model light but without being covered in goop... I also saved a spare ballast and a spare set of sockets...

Nice! Did you have to touch the chemical-covered one at all? How many are there?

I believe the date is stamped on the back.

T12/ t17 there's a reason they made heavy magnetic ballasts

That one is non-PCB, which would put it around 1978-1983ish. Sometime around the mid-80s, they changed the label design.

I like my lamps thick, my ballasts heavy, and my fixtures tough.

I dragged the chemical covered one outside and left it there once I discovered another clean fixture to pull parts from.. I honestly wish I would have encountered the clean one first because I would have gutted the nasty one instead... But luckily the ballast channel isn't all that disgusting with chems... It'll need work yes but nothing too bad.

Go back and get the other one while you can.

Preheat Fluorescents forever!

I would but I don't really have bulbs or room for two 8 foot fixtures.... I did pull the ballast and sockets off the other one though

Before it goes the way of the T17 fixture.

If you have room for one, you have room for two or more. They can stack together.

Don't really need that many fixtures though. Nor do I have any bulbs for so many fixtures. These power grooves are my only eight foot tubes.

I only feel like going through the trouble of dragging one home.
