Extremely strong magnetic field in overdriven fluorescent ballast

Extremely strong magnetic field in overdriven fluorescent ballast

I took my vintage soviet ballast with extra auxiliary resonance winding and I rewired it in such a way with the live line capacitor instead put in in place of starter. I was trying to create a semi-resonant circuit, and it kinda worked. The tubes lit up like on IS ballast every time the switch was pressed, but I had to run a ground wire along the glass tube, because without it it wouldn't start unless I touched it. But the ballast didn't like that at all. It buzzed really loudly tho the camera did not pick that up. I took a magnet to see how strong are magnetic fields and they were enormously strong! Just look at it! The magnet is oscillating so fiercely I can barely get a hold of it. The normal preheat ballast would make the magnet oscillate very lightly, but this ballast made the magnet go haywire!
