So, I really wanted to have some vintage American starters for my collection. I searched on ebay and found a listing for NOS boxes of 10 vintage Sylvania FS-4 starers. These are so cool! I was a bit afraid that American starters might not fit in European and let alone soviet starter holders, but it did. Fits like a glove! I also was a bit afraid of these starters blowing up at our mains voltage, but after testing it it seemed fine, and acted normal. I of course couldn't resist myself, and I opened one of the starters to see how they look inside, and they are so gorgeous! The ominous blue glow of pure argon filled starter glow tube is just mesmerizing! The glow color and the shape of the tube reminds me very closely of soviet starters. weird. Also, the engineering of these starters is just amazing! The mechanism for cutting off the circuit to save the ballast on EOL tube was just genius! Whoever came up with that was a real genius! Can anyone date these? There seem to be no date neither on the box, neither on the starters themselves.

Great find! "Spec No 6" starters are definitely 1940s, with their wax paper capacitor (condenser).

When I get a job again and start making money I could mail you a COP-40 starter. I got alot of COP-40 starters with reset buttons on the top back when I raided my local abandoned factory

Quite a few!! I have trouble getting them home though.... I recall a while back you saying you'd help me conduct a raid lmaoo not sure if that was just a joke or not but you'd be more than welcome to help me clean that place out before it gets demoed... Quite a few fluorescent fixtures in there. Also some HIDs I haven't been able to reach..

Understandable... I don't think I'll be able to save them all myself... Unless I get a car or something..
