120v SSR (home-Built)

As requested by Fluorescent05 on another pic, a 120v Solid-State Relay (SSR)

On the left with the heatsink is a Triac
The bank of resistors could in theory be replaced by a single large resistor.
The white chip is an opto-isolator
The round thing is a diode-bridge

And yes it plugs in twice! One for power (for the load to be stitched), One for control (this goes to the output of whatever lights controller you have (note you must also still put a small incandescent load like a single C9, or 20-bulb mini lightset on that lights controller, or it may fail to operate correctly!))

And ideally this should not be in a wood box!

Why did you use fluorescent light diffuser for the sides?

@Fluorescent05: I'd normally use clear plastic, but didn't have any pieces laying around at that time, I did have some leftover bits of diffuser though...

Colored Fluorescent's such as F40T12 Red or  Green or Blue are awesome...

Is this used for controlling magnetic fluorescent dimming ballasts from Christmas light controllers?

@Fluorescent05:
Actually this is the particular one I do use for that. I've also got a few others that I use for splitting large loads of incandescent mini's off the controllers (and even onto a separate breaker).
