Special thanks to Icefoglights for these. They would have ended up in the Value Village donation bin otherwise. :)

These are some early and relatively primitive LEDs. I haven't lit them yet but I figure I will use them in some particular fixtures in my kitchen, where they will fare better light distribution wise than some A15s I have right now. I picture the light quality might be ugly but it'll match with other things I've got there, there are lots of early and primitive LEDs in use around the house.

These things must have retailed for a fair bit in their day, as they even have the magnetic anti-shoplifting strip on their boxes.

These are kinda heavy, with their heat sinks and whatnot. Kinda clunky and primitive, but an interesting collection piece. I remember when stuff like this seemed like the newest and latest and greatest, amazing how times have changed! That wasn't even that many years ago. In fact, we were commenting immediately afterward on how it's been 20 years since the infamous and hated spiral compact fluorescents became a thing, again doesn't seem like that was even that many years ago! 32 LPW is kinda pathetic considering most LEDs now are in the 100 LPW range. These actually don't say what they replace but it can't have been much, at 320 lumens.

The light quality isn't too bad on them. However, to make up for their reduced output, they were made with a very narrow flood pattern, as indicated on the box. The generation that replaced these (12 watts with 6 diodes) fixed those shortcomings, and have been reliably lighting my kitchen for 5 years now.

I've got these in use in my kitchen back home, in some downlights. Not very bright but they direct the light where it is actually needed...
