Manufactured 1/84 at the Salina, KS plant.

Preheat and T-12 fluorescents forever! Down with LED's and instant start T-8 fluorescents.

At least they actually thought to write "rapid start only" on these. "F40CW/RS/EW" probably looks like an acceptable replacement for "F40CW" to the unsuspecting individual. My theory, however, is that the vague labeling on many energy-saver lamps was intentional so people would put them in their full-power fixtures and burn out the ballasts. That way lighting manufacturers could sell more ballasts. Probably contributed to some fires and PCB leaks too.

I like my lamps thick, my ballasts heavy, and my fixtures tough.

Nice. These are 34W though not 40W (say's 40 in your title). Yeah I just stay clear of reduced-wattage lamps in general. I do have some F34T12s though. Three NOS full-mercury Philips ones and a few red-etch GEs.

Please check out my newly-updated website! McCann Lighting Company is where my street light collection is displayed in detail.
