I love this picture. I think the medley of HPS and LED street lighting is very cool.

There was actually a dispute over the ownership of a lot of those lights between the city and the power company. Once it is resolved, more LED will be installed. For power company lights, no relamping is done. If any of lamp, ballast or PC fails (or other things such as mounting) it is systematically replaced with LED. In a couple of years, this shot would be whiter than it already is. You can also see here and there the sporadic mercury vapour lamp, most of which are probably privately owned.

Ah, what is that big circle thing in the lower left?

That circle looks like one those roundabout type intersections.

This was taken a few days ago I think.

Yep, that's a roundabout. Surprised you never seen one Dave! My mother hates the things.

For someone uses to the Midwestern suburbs, driving there with huge roundabouts, narrow, reversable lanes, streets going every which way, and toll bridges can charitably be described as fun. Yes, I drove in the roundabout in the pictures.

Halifax, a great city. I enjoyed my short visit there when I sailed in on Queen Mary 2

I am DEFINITELY putting "Get a drone camera" on my wish list. There's some places that an aerial photo would have been awesome. Especially at night.

Why I like LEDs on top of other lighting tech?
LEDs = Upgrade 95% of the applications. (That is if you avoid eBay's LEDs).

LED brainwash? No, people uses them cuz they work well for them.

Wow, LED combined with HPS is beautiful. I wonder what it would look like with clear MV and HPS?

You should see the HPS streetlight between Chicago city limit and its surrounding town/cities/village with other types of streetlights. I remember driving down on Milwaukee Avenue toward to the Chicago limit years ago seeing the transition from MV to HPS streetlights.

Pretty, please no more Chinese failure.

I remember going through Chicago to get to Milwaukee last October. Being from Birmingham, I had never seen such a huge, seemingly endless city.

That's a nice photo. Shame to see so much LED in use though. I can still spot a few MV lamps however!
I'm surprised to see those roundabouts - I didn't know you had those in the USA, I never saw any on the hundreds of miles I drove last time I visited.

I'm always interested in exchanging lamps - message me to see what we can do! Smiley

This particular city is in Canada. I think roundabouts are a great idea, however the driver education aspect is the weak point here. Oh, and the drivers opposed to change however good or bad...

Here and there, the odd one. Most are privately owned. The last remaining city-owned group I was aware of was removed about a year ago when major work was done on an overpass at the city end of highway 102.

I'm genuinely surprised to read that roundabouts are a rare thing where all you guys are. They are everywhere here! Even in small towns.

Here in Nova Scotia, they only really started to build them in about 2009 or 2010. Before then, they were quite rare but are far more common nowadays.
