I have tried to find stuff like this at my local scrap yards. Unfortunately there is nothing like this at them, just junk like old car parts and appliances. They don't let you buy or take anything there either.

Any machine is a smoke machine if you operate it wrong enough.

not all metal yard are equal. Two just because they buy somting off of you, they have turn around sell it at higher price to scrap broker. So when u offer them more money worth than a broker price. They would more likey be happy sell it, people come in places like this for rebar, angle irorn, and pipes
They will tend sell it to you bit better than tin or iron prices. Some yard will let u trade off or sell it to you at higher prices
Biggest problem is being in yard is u want go look around on slow days when there not busy. Cause all swinging machines
Are a safety hazard. So u have to respect metal yard and use common sense and ask scrap yard if u can purchese anything?
Many time around here they will set off white goods off side cause they sell It for better price to a applince repairman.

No LED gadgets, spins too slowly.  Gotta  love preheat and MV. let the lights keep my meter spinning.

It's pretty rare to find a light in this condition at the scrapyard though. Most are all smashed up by that time. I know here the fixtures are stripped of parts before being scrapped since they get more money for them that way. The refractors and photocells are removed and thrown in the trash, the ballasts and wires are clipped out and disposed of in a separate bin, and capacitors and lamps are removed and disposed of as hazardous waste.

Please check out my newly-updated website! McCann Lighting Company is where my street light collection is displayed in detail.
