Interesting to see pics of one of these up close. I wonder if the difficult to seal bowl design was the reason why Philips switched to a more conventional design for the second generation Goldfinger.

The Goldfinger II is so drastically different I'm sure it has something to do with Philips getting inline with what they could produce for the U.K. & Europe. Did a Goldfinger 1st generation ever make it into Europe?

I wonder too. I'd always thought the Philips Goldeye was only sold in Canada until I same a picture of them in use in Australia. Does the ballast compartment have any unused holes in the casting that are sized to fit European gear?
