This HPS bulb is a little more special than most, as it has an ITO coating on it. It has around a 5% higher efficiency than a normal HPS lamp.

Look closely, you might be able to see some stuff on the outer bulb...

Does the dirt make it special?
Seriously, this is just a Sylvania Lumalux LU250/ECO, which runs very yellow and has less efficacy than an older style HPS lamp which has a normal dose of Hg...nothing to get excited about.

Your mission - should you choose to accept it - is to save unique and rare HID lighting before it's all scrapped.

The dirt makes it special because it reflects the infrared light, which lets the bulb make the same light with ever so lightly less power. Also, you didn't even get the wattage right, it's 400w.

The dirt isn't so efficient as a heat reflective coating to boost the efficiency of the arctube. It just have a yellower color since it have less mercury. HG free HPS lamps have a yellow color like this .

I"m don't speak English well, and rely on online translating to write in this site.
Please forgive me if my choice of my words looks like offensive, while that isn't my intention.

I only working with the European date format (dd.mm.yyyy).

I lives in Israel, which is a 230-240V, 50hz country.

So, now HPS lamps become more efficient as they get dirtier? You should really put that bit of trivia in your "stop LED streetlight" website as a plus point for HID lamps, it would be right at home with the rest

Actually, it might get less dirty because my coating methods aren't quite developed yet. Also, you'd better not laugh at this dirt, because it costs 25 dollars/Euros per gram!
