This close up photo of the basement lamps shows how strong these fittings were made. The reflector (50cm across)is made of enameled metal. The holders are bakelite and the glass (30cm long and 20cm across) is extremely thick (10mm) the lampbase is porcelain. The fittings are rated 200W. By mistake this lamp holds a 300W for many years whithout any showing any signs of deterioration.
