Rare 250w HPS NEMA

Rare 250w HPS NEMA

Here's a rare American Electric Series 11, 250w HPS. I didn't get to see this at night, but I can imagine the glare is similar to the 250w bracket fixtures in my area.

240v ballast? I don't think a CWA of that size would fit in the NEMA head so I'm guessing it's a 240v reactor. That's one bright yard light, but probably similar in output to a brand new 400w mercury PowrBracket.

I'm lampin...

I think this one has a glass refractor.

Yep, according to the spec sheet 250w HPS is 240v only. However, they do have an option for 200w with a 120v HX-NPF ballast. High wattage HX ballasts are very rare and so I'm hoping to get one soon.

That's cool it has a glass refractor, I don't think I've ever seen a bucket refractor that was glass, around here.

Collect vintage incandescent and fluorescent fixtures. Also like HID lighting and streetlights.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but that's a Lexalite acrylic refactor on the area light.

Proudy suffering from "Westinghouse Lifeguard Disease" since 1977! LOL
There's no known cure for Westinghouse Lifeguard disease, so the only way to treat it is to find more!!! LOL LOL LOL

I'd say this must have a 120v ballast since it is only connected to one line and the neutral on the triplex.

Agreed, likely a 120V HX-NPF ballast.

Please check out my newly-updated website! McCann Lighting Company is where my street light collection is displayed in detail.
