Nice, we only have 1 35W HPS lamp, we should really get some more. Plenty of the larger sizes, but not 35W.

Btw are the red capped ones any good? Or are those the ones that don't last more than a years service

You have plenty of the 18W ones though, the prices for those are really shooting through the roof over here now, as are the 180W ones. Not looked for 55W recently, will have to see what's out there.

The 18s are great but i still need the 55 too because i have a basically brand new philips gold finger that needs at least 6 lamps allocated for it's service life. In addition i have a wallpack that also needs a few but i could settle for sox 35 for that if i don't salvage that fixture instead

So far i only have 4 sox55 and one has a broken jacket but still works

I've just found a 90W GEC Super SOX on eBay for a good price, waiting for it to arrive. No ballast at the moment though, but securing the lamps is more important at the moment, ballasts will still be out there for a while yet, I hope

I’ve also bought off-brand HPS lamps like this and while they LOOKED decent (all of them worked properly, weren’t bent or rattled inside), they just don’t last. I would get anywhere from two weeks to a maximum of four years (rare) from any brand of HPS or mercury lamp that wasn’t GE, Sylvania, Phillips, Westinghouse or Eye, in dusk to dawn use. It wasn’t worth it to use any other brands. However, for occasional/display use or an outdoor light not frequently used or easy to get to to relamp, the off-brands are fine.

I'm lampin...

Thanks, we'll see how these do when its time. Im looking at finishing my list with philips ones, but they say made in china in 2015 in the listing, how are chinese philips in terms of longevity ?
