GE 55w sox with hole in envelope

This is the spare lamp that came with my philips gold finger fixture at no extra cost. The fixture has its origional Philips lamp installed and it works.

This GE Lamp is unused but has damage on the end. It has no vacuum in the outer envelope but the lamp still works fine. It does take longer to warm up but it does get near full brightness. It gets hotter faster though and I expect the lamp will not last its rated life. I plan to use it up first when fixture is setup

Is this 55w still operating?

I will show how to fix such envelope breaks on SOX lamps shortly.

Materials needed: Small metal hose valve, hand vacuum pump and automotive gasket maker.

I haven't ran it since this photo was taken, but the lamp is inside the fixture and both are still stored away. I'm probably going to leave the lamp as is or put some JB weld around the crack to prevent it from growing
