No, that did not happen.
The lamp is an 40Watt.

I don't think so.
I think it's something to do with the lamp.

The base could have some foreign conductive material on it and shorted out.

Almost appears as if the socket tab contact for the base tip was bent or loose and shorted to the shell of the lamp base.

I never use old 1950's electrical contraptions like this, very unsafe for just this reason. For decoration/historical purposes only, do not use them daily. Especially today when they are 60 year old and brittle. Same goes for those "light socket-to-outlet" screw-in adapters. I also would never use a plastic power strip, I always buy metal ones.

You likely had a loose prong on the left side, and it shorted. Bakelite did its job though, one thing it was used so much in electrical is its fire resistant.

I collect exit signs, preferably vintage ones.

I also have a little bit of a thing for light bulbs, too. Of course, hoarding them due to the incandescent bulb ban.

Sell it for scrap/spare parts and buy a new one. Never use a damaged power strip like that. You don't know what the wiring inside looks like or how compromised it is. Putting power through it, you're begging for another fire.

Scratch clean the contacts of the arced receptacle, clean off the Metallic film that landed on the insides of the Plastic cover (dont need to clean it perfectly, just break the coating so it isnt continuous) and go on. No drama there

The arced contacts of this one receptacle might have a bit lower contact surface area now, it definitely does not affect the load carrying capability of the other receptacles or the strip as whole

Dead short within the bulb? Had this happened with certain Christmas bulbs before and melted the candelabra socket contacts.

Long live the great old 20th century quality in electrical & lighting products!

I have the same plug in medium base socket as you. made by leviton. What does the inside of your socket look like ? mine has a thick black plastic ring in the bottom with the center pin.
