The ballast will still fire up lamps but will overheat and shut off after about half an hour, the amount of oil this thing leaked leads me to believe there was a capacitor in it that popped and leaked, i assume slimline ballasts have capacitors in them.

A lot of the oil that leaked from this ballast dripped out of the fixture and onto some boxes, which will have to be dealt with.

As for the fixture itself (an ACME Striplight), it will not be staying sadly, as i really do not want to deal with the oil, as i've had to deal with this kind of stuff in the past and it's not fun, i've swapped the fixture with an older US-made Lithonia 4xF40T12 8ft striplight.
