Thanks to yuandrew for pointing this device out to me.

I boght two of these for 16 dollars each. They were the only units of this model that were under 50 dollars so I got very lucky.

If anyone knows any other model of quartz restrike module please share. I tried searching up quartz restrike with various different keywords and these are all that pop up..

So this is how they make the lights with the quartz halogen auxiliary for hot restrike, or the F-can ballasts with an incandescent lamp connected to the 120v tap work. I was always wondering what the mechanism was.

Since I don’t know much about modern electronics, I would have just put a bimetal switch in or a relay coil in series with the lamp so that it shuts off once the arctube heats up, and the current rises to the full operating value, if I was designing such a fixture.

I think it has to do with hot restrike or lighting failure. If the current flow a lot to the MH bulb, no auxiliary light comes on. If there is a little current flowing to the MH bulb, the auxiliary bulb would lit.

Pretty, please no more Chinese failure.
