eBay finds, i was supposed to get 6, but the seller realized he had fewer lamps than he listed, so he gave me a partial refund for the missing lamps and sent me 3 Philips 175w MV lamps and a GE 175w MH lamp.

Theses appear to have the Westinghouse arc tube design with no corners cut, so these should last a long time.

Are these medium based? If they are, they're pretty rare.

Save the Cooper OVWs!! Don't them down by crap LED fixtures!!!

Nice lamps! Even though the sleeves do not state it, these still use the Lifeguard electrodes. Philips continued to use them for a short time even after dropping the name. Since these are from 1989, they would have been made one year after Philips stopped using the Lifeguard name, but 3 years before they started using regular electrodes.

I like all kinds of lighting and electrical, except for LED, which I classify as a disease.

That's the main reason i bought these, as they should last a long time.

Interesting. These are probably looked over for that reason too.

For some reason Philips continued to use the Lifeguard name on the 50w lamps well into the 2000s though. Here's a 50w lamp from 2006 with a Lifeguard sleeve.

Likely so, the seller told me the reason for the inventory error was because they sold a lot faster than he expected.
