I decided to mod this wallpack to 175w MV and the OEM Caster ballast seems to run the MV lamp at full power to my surprise.

Old lighting is, and will always be, the best lighting.

The bulb would still work fine as long as it was never shut off and immediately turned back on (hot restrike). The hot restrike is what fries the starting probe, as the ignitor sends a much higher voltage than normal.
