This is a Lithonia floodlight.

Looked it up and the fixture is made by Caster Lighting.

I did not get an answer to this question so here it is again. If i were to remove the igniter, would i be able to run 100w Probe start MH lamps and MV lamps on it safely?

100W Probe-Start Metal Halide lamps don't exist as far as I know they are only Pulse-Start
Also as xmaslightguy said the Mercury lamp has to be a 125W to be used safely on a 100W MH M90 ballast I believe one of those cheap Feit or Caster "175"W ones actually have a 125W arc-tube so you can use one of those

100w metal halide is only pulse start, probe start is 175w and up. The ballast in this fixture is a modified 100w mercury ballast, Caster used this same HX type ballast for the Lithonia 100w mercury version of this floodlight, they simply just added a tap on the secondary for the ignitor, otherwise the OCV and operating current is identical to their mercury ballast. A 100w H38 mercury lamp would be your only probe start option for this fixture.

Btw you might want to consider that, the components are all crap quality and the first thing to go on these floods is that white box "universal" ignitor, which notoriously fails after a few hot restrikes.

The fixture is made by Caster for Lithonia, however I have seen them also branded as Caster.

I believe those 100w mercury ballasts also ran the lamp at around 110w too which means you can also get away with running 125w lamps on them. I believe some of the 175w ballasts ran the lamps at around 145w.

Sorry, i'm not familiar with all the wattages probe start metal halide comes in so i made the stupid mistake of assuming it came in the 100w size too. Thanks for answering my question.

@BlueHalide: I've heard many bad things about the igniters in Casters PSMH fixtures.

One thing i'd like to add, the metal latch on the fixture is tight and made of thin sharp metal that will easily cut your fingers if your not careful.
