Not sure if this was made before or after Philips started cutting corners on the design.

April 1999. Made after Philips started cutting corners on design.

Good quality things are awesome. Bad quality things are not.

Question, when did Philips drop the Westinghouse design? As i found some clear Philips 175w lamps from 1989 on eBay and i'm wondering if they are proper Lifeguard lamps?

Old lighting is, and will always be, the best lighting.

Philips dropped the BT-25 and BT-37 shapes in 1984 and the Lifeguard name and the BT-28 shape in 1988. The Lifeguard arctube and electrodes were dropped in 1995.

Good quality things are awesome. Bad quality things are not.

Thanks, So the 1989 lamps should have the Lifeguard arctube design, just without the Lifeguard name.
