I don't know when did they developed the F100T17 Fluorescent light dimension, but I do know that the F40T12 started the whole thing

The F40T12 actually wasn't the first size. It came out sometime in 1939, while I think the F15T8, F15T12, and F30T8 came out in late 1938. I'm not sure when the F100T17 entered production.

I like my lamps thick, my ballasts heavy, and my fixtures tough.
