Not unusual here in the US. Utilities mostly used the LU200 lamp. The 200W HPS (ANSI S66) lamp was intended to replace the 400W, H33 mercury vapor lamp.

Your mission - should you choose to accept it - is to save unique and rare HID lighting before it's all scrapped.

Interesting. Certainly the luminous flux of this would be similar to a 400w mercury.

Here thay are just "plonkers" and replace 400 with 400 (HPS) so the illumination level goes up by a factor of two and prople get really accustomed to the high levels until they zoom out into a rural area beyond the city!
