This is from that glass drum light.

Don't be fooLED, T8 IS the worst thing to do to a magnetic T12 fixture.

Late 60's to early 70's vintage.

Power provider: Southern California Edison (SCE)

-Date decoder of some US lamps 1960-present.
-Switch and receptacle collector.
-I'll save what I can! Smiley

Nice find! A true inside frost and I'll bet i has a C-9 filament mount.

Preheat and T-12 fluorescents forever! Down with LED's and instant start T-8 fluorescents.

There is another one of these in that weird 1970s fixture I posted. What does inside frost mean?

Inside frost actually is the inside of the lamp is acid etched to provide a translucent glass envelope. This was replaced in the 80s with a light, silica coating.

Is that why the lamps glow only in the middle and appear dark on the outside?

The darkening is caused by the evaporation of the filament condensing on the inside walls of the glass bulb.

Preheat and T-12 fluorescents forever! Down with LED's and instant start T-8 fluorescents.

Is that why the part that was positioned up is blackest?

That's correct. That's why you see these blacken on the top if burned in a table lamp and blackened around the neck if burned base up.

Preheat and T-12 fluorescents forever! Down with LED's and instant start T-8 fluorescents.

It is gas filled and that is how the bulb was burning in horizontal position from here.

Pretty, please no more Chinese failure.
