My homemade Fluorescent desk light for my mom.

My homemade Fluorescent desk light for my mom.

My mom is an artist. And she needs a normal light to illuminate her drawings when the evening comes. So I made her this fixture out of weatherproof F18T8 fluorescent tube fixture and soviet desk lamp hanger contraption. Looks very rustic. I really like it. Inside I installed full spectrum Osram 5500k tube, so it would create very natural light.

Heck yeah, man! I like this one. Did you have to change the springs, to accomodate the extra weight?

The hanger is soviet made, it's heavy metal with heavy springs. A bit of tensioning with pliers on the black angle know and it stayed upright with no problems, considering inside the fixture there is a preheat ballast weighing a pound or so

New lighting technologies is a pity fest everywhere you look. From LEDs that last only for two months, to a never-ending global starvation of t8 fluorescent tubes.

If you want something like this, get the Dazor 2134! (American, of course.)

Good quality things are awesome. Cheaply made things are not.

Dazors have held their value quite well... plus, this has a personal touch that is important.
