Train Carriage Lights

Click to view full size image

The inside of a TPO carriage, showing the lighting. The incandescents in the centre were originally installed when the train was built, the fluorescents were put in a couple of decades later. These trains are no longer in use as they have been replaced with modern electric trains.

The fluorescents are 5 foot 65watt T-12's on rapid start ballasts.

This is one of the best work of updating I have seen! I even like the fact they LEFT the old ones alone.....as it makes it look nice, but do they work, are they still wired.....(meaning do they use them for maybe special times, or emergency lights or whatever) or are the incandescent lamps dead?

I see one of the lamps inside those fixtures in the center. Doesn't look dead to me. Inside etched lamps? (not the writing the coating.)

Why I like LEDs on top of other lighting tech?
LEDs = Upgrade 95% of the applications. (That is if you avoid eBay's LEDs).

LED brainwash? No, people uses them cuz they work well for them.
